ICHEIC Appeals Panel decisions are now published in redacted format on the ICHEIC website. Decisions have been redacted in order to protect claimant confidentiality. Future decisions will be published as cases are decided and redaction is completed. Neither Panel nor Tribunal decisions carry the weight of precedent however; the publication of these decisions is intended only to improve general public understanding of the appeals processes.

Appeals Panel Redaction Agreement

The Appeals Panel* has consented to a request by the Contracting Parties to the Agreement** that will allow decisions by the Appeals Panel and its individual members to be published in redacted form. The goal of redacted publication of Appeals Panel decisions is to enhance public understanding of the Panel's work while protecting the privacy of the parties in all cases. By agreement between ICHEIC and the JCC*** as agent for ICHEIC, the JCC will undertake the actual work of redaction. The results of such redaction will be posted on the ICHEIC website. The Appeals Panel provides copies of unredacted decisions to the JCC. The Appeals Panel, however, has no role in and assumes no responsibility for the work or results of the redaction of its decisions undertaken by the JCC or other third parties.

*The Appeals Panel considers appeals on decisions from German insurance companies and the German subsidiaries of non German companies, as well as those against Allianz and Allianz RAS which were dated after 16 October 2002.
